2020 Reflections & Beyond
Artwork from ArtWorks Drawing Club

A virtual display of artwork from artist members of Drawing Club, a group led and facilitated by COMPAS Teaching Artist Katrina Knutson, and supported by Avivo ArtWorks Peer Specialist Rick Carey.

Members respond to Drawing Club:
“I loved the creativity of the group and its energy.”
“I was into the collage action and drawing self-portraits.”
“I enjoyed the surprise that I can draw!”

Fifteen members of Avivo's Community Support Program met November - January 2020 on Friday afternoons on Zoom to draw, hone skills, and share ideas with peers in a positive, encouraging space. Artists of all skill levels explored drawing with a variety of media. Each week, artists made new art in different media and techniques that incorporated drawing: abstract, collage, botanical, portraits, blind contour drawing, still-life, watercolor, charcoal, pastel, pencil. To participate, members received art kits with supplies.

This display features the artwork from 9 participating members. Some art comes directly from Katrina's group exercises. All art is inspired by what was explored, shared, and learned.

Drawing Club's collage elements were so popular that ArtWorks has now started Collage Club. Who knows, maybe collage club will become Sculpture Club. The possibilities are endless!
